What Paris Taught Me About Celebration, Fear, and Letting Myself Be Seen

So, nature has always been my thang. But as my dear Liberty ambassador Amy pointed out — she should be carved from marble (and she should) — some architecture is an extension of the creativity of man/woman. It follows nature’s laws, is made of natural materials, and when it looks as beautiful as some of Paris and London do, I am EQUALLY OBSESSED. Some stone looks like skin, and I feel like I have fallen in love all over again. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know Liberty is all about connecting women back to nature — to themselves, to their bodies, to the elements.

When I was confronted with Le Tour Eiffel and the beauty that was my clients, I freaked out. FREAKED. How the fuck do I shoot two icons in one image? Three — fine. A group — amazing. But two? Oooof. I wasn’t prepared to feel intimidated by a building. It made me realise how often we get intimidated by beauty — I have a friend who literally falls over her words in the face of it. Is it possible that we also can freeze when faced with our magnificence?

What do I know about fear though? It always hides a desire. What did I want more than anything? To do the women and Paris justice. Can I do better? Always. Am I proud? So much.

What I’m also realising is that I’ve had such a block around celebration, and I believe it’s played a part in two significant burnouts I’ve experienced. In the world of business, I’ve always been good at starting things — at doing the thing, at building the thing — but when it comes to presenting it to the world, which really requires an announcement and a big celebration, I’ve really struggled to do that part. That moment under the Eiffel Tower cracked something open for me — not just as a photographer, but as a woman who’s spent years doing, building, striving.

And that part is so essential for your body to anchor in the next version of yourself. To make the whole process — and all that hard work — worthwhile. As soon as I built the thing, I could never surrender to this part of the process.

In the Western world, celebration looks like champagne, getting drunk, getting dressed up. And what I’ve decided mammals really need — and what I see mammals do when they are very joyful and gleeful — is they jump. They jump and they jump and they jump.

And when we were in Paris, there was minimal drinking, and there was so much jumping. So much jumping for joy, skipping, dressing up — and it all just felt like a girly party that I really needed.

This month our new website is being launched (you can go and have a look at it now, but it’s not ready yet), and once I am done, I am going to jump so much. I want to anchor this feeling of joy into my body and not immediately move straight onto the next part. Because, of course, this is the feminine.

For me to build this website has meant being in my masculine — it has taken a lot of time — but once it’s done, I really invite you to celebrate with me. Whether that be in Paris (12-13th Nov), whether that be you doing a little jump at home and thinking of me, or whether that’s you booking a shoot for 2026.

Because I really believe anchoring in the feeling of joy, of expansion, of celebration — of dressing up for no reason other than adult frivolity — is just my medicine for the world, and the medicine that I need too.

So here’s your reminder, my love — celebrate the small wins, jump like a fool, let yourself be seen. Whether it’s Paris, your garden, or your kitchen floor, anchor joy in your body. It’s the only way to stop outrunning yourself.
